Crissy Welzen is originally from the Chicago area where her love for painting began. In 1995 she moved to Oakland to pursue painting at the California College of Arts. While there she continued to paint but also discovered a passion for photography, specifically landscapes, which led to a degree in fine art photography.

Crissy’s creative vision has developed over the years to include both painting and photography. Her current work begins with 5x5-inch c-prints that she paints on with oils and other mediums to create intimate landscapes with subtle alterations to the 'original.'

Welzen moved to Rochester, NY in 2001, and works for 21st Editions, a small publisher of hand crafted limited edition fine art photography books.
